Basant Panchami is a popular Hindu festival celebrated to welcome the spring season. It is observed on the fifth day (Panchami) of the bright half of the month of Magha (January–February). This day is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, music, and learning. People wear yellow clothes, prepare yellow-colored sweets, and offer prayers to Goddess Saraswati, especially students and teachers. In many places, children are introduced to learning for the first time on this day (Vidyarambh).
