A stock exchange fund (ETF) will appear in the USA that will specifically invest in meme cryptocurrencies. Bloomberg ETF expert Eric Balchunas believes that with the release of more actively managed token ETFs (possibly by the end of 2025), niche products such as funds specializing in investments in meme cryptocurrencies could emerge very soon. Balchunas responded in a social media discussion that such products are "highly likely" to be launched within the next two years. He noted that the volatility of meme cryptocurrency performance and limited institutional investment coverage make them more suitable for active management rather than passive tracking. Will we see an ETF focused on meme tokens — experts' comments. Meme token ETFs will not directly hold the tokens but will be able to use indirect exposure through other token funds constructed in accordance with existing regulations (e.g., the 1940 Act or the 1933 Act). This will give asset managers greater flexibility while still adhering to compliance rules. Industry analyst Dave Nadig added that existing rules for trust managers hinder active management of crypto trust funds, and if the rules do not change, it may slow the development of any such ETFs. However, with the appointment of Paul Atkins as chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and his promotion of broader access to tokens, this situation could change quickly.
