How?
· When the Fed prints dollars, it increases the money supply.
· If those dollars are sold to buy yen, it might mean the Fed is trying to influence the yen’s value.
· You can check if this is happening by looking at the Fed's weekly balance sheet report (called the H.4.1).
· Watch for increases in the line "Foreign currency denominated assets" , that would show the Fed is holding more foreign currencies like yen.
