Scaling Solutions:

To address network congestion and high transaction fees, Ethereum is heavily relying on Layer 2 (L2) scaling solutions. These solutions process transactions off the main Ethereum chain (Layer 1) and then submit them back to the mainnet, significantly increasing transaction speed and throughput. Examples of L2 solutions include rollups (optimistic and zero-knowledge), sidechains, state channels, and plasma chains.

 

Upcoming Upgrades:

Ethereum's roadmap includes upgrades like the "Fusaka Upgrade," which aims for more scaling capacity, efficiency, and security, and the "Pectra Upgrade," which broadly transforms Ethereum by introducing improvements to user experience and staking, including smart accounts and incremental staking. There is also a "Glamsterdam upgrade" being discussed, though developers are currently facing challenges with its scope and timeline.

 

State Bloat and Node Efficiency:

A planned "Hegota" upgrade for late 2026 is expected to focus on long-term protocol work such as reducing state bloat and improving node efficiency.

 

In terms of $ETH supply, market data indicates that large institutions are actively removing Ethereum from liquid circulation, often for staking. This trend, where a significant portion of the total circulating supply is being locked up, suggests long-term confidence in Ethereum and can lead to a shrinking liquid supply, potentially reducing selling pressure. However, despite this absorption, the price may not immediately react, with market data showing ETH consolidating within a range.
