Plasma: Building an 'Overpass' for On-Chain Payments
@Plasma $XPL #Plasma
The current operational state of the Ethereum mainnet is extremely close to that of a city center transportation hub with limited design capacity. Congestion is worsening. Every transaction instruction is currently engaged in a zero-sum game within extremely scarce and expensive block space, and this physical resource mismatch has led to friction costs in financial clearing that instantaneously devour business profits during demand surges, forcing a large number of financial innovation activities that rely on low friction costs to come to a standstill due to their inability to cover the underlying gas expenses. To break the growth bottleneck caused by global state synchronization, the Plasma protocol chooses to extend a clearly hierarchical recursive sidechain system on top of the underlying public blockchain, using this layered management topology to completely strip most of the computational pressure from the mainnet, thus transforming global competition into local parallel processing. This architecture is accelerating the cutting of intermediary redundancy.
