A teenager stole cryptocurrency worth up to $90 million from the US government.

John Dagita, the son of the owner of CMDSS, gained access to his father's infrastructure and used it to steal cryptocurrency that had previously been confiscated by US authorities.

CMDSS was contracted by the Virginia state authorities and was responsible for the storage and management of seized digital assets. According to the investigation, the confirmed amount of funds withdrawn so far is about $23 million, while the total damage could reach $90 million.

The suspect was identified through social media activity, where he demonstrated a sharp increase in wealth and expensive purchases. The role and degree of responsibility of the father are currently being established as part of the investigation.

This is what "secure storage" of confiscated cryptocurrency looks like in the US.
