#walrus$WAL @Walrus 🦭/acc Walruses live in the Arctic Ocean and nearby seas where temperatures are extremely low. They prefer shallow waters because food is easier to find there. Walruses are excellent swimmers and can dive deep to search for shellfish. When not feeding, they rest closely together on ice to stay warm. A thick layer of blubber protects them from freezing temperatures and provides energy. Walruses communicate using loud sounds such as grunts and roars. Mothers are very caring and protect their calves from predators. Loss of sea ice is changing their natural lifestyle and forcing walruses to rest on land, which can be dangerous for young calves.
