The LDPR is openly trying to expand its electorate by attracting experts and enthusiasts of digital currency. The first political crypto forum, which took place in Moscow, proved this. Now cryptocurrency is seen as a tool for attracting a new audience, rather than a secondary topic.

The event was aimed at people who are already working with digital assets or are interested in them: traders, miners, entrepreneurs, specialists in the IT field. This group is currently practically unrepresented in party politics.

Political calculation

The LDPR directly points out the interest of youth in cryptocurrencies and considers this environment a potential base. It is not about the mass voter, but about a narrower, yet economically active and independent audience.

The crypto theme is used by the party as a gateway to dialogue with people who are used to working outside traditional financial and administrative frameworks.

At the crypto forum, representatives of the LDPR spoke about the need to legalize the circulation of digital assets and create clear rules for the market. Deputy head of the State Duma working group on cryptocurrency regulation Andrey Lugovoy stated that in the current convocation, it is possible to submit proposals for cryptocurrency regulation agreed with the government and the central bank.

The party also demonstrated its readiness to engage in dialogue with all market participants, including those who previously operated in the gray area. This approach is explained by the fact that it is precisely the absence of rules that has shaped the current structure of the industry.

LDPR Crypto Initiatives

This is not the first time the party has turned to crypto. In January 2025, LDPR deputy Yaroslav Nilov proposed to explore the possibility of creating a meme coin dedicated to Vladimir Zhirinovsky, timed to coincide with his anniversary.

The idea was voiced as a reaction to the global trend of political tokens and was discussed with the participation of profile deputies working on crypto regulation. The initiative was symbolic and was specifically addressed to the crypto community.

In December 2025, the party chairman Leonid Slutsky proposed to start a dialogue in Russia about the legalization of cryptocurrencies and the formation of transparent rules for the digital assets market. He linked this work to the interests of youth, the IT sector, and the technological development of the country.

Previously, LDPR representatives also advocated for the legalization of mining and for delineating legal activities from illegal connections to energy infrastructure.

In January 2026, the party returned to the topic of mining.

Hello Trump

The bet on the crypto community as a separate electoral group has already been used in foreign politics. During the presidential campaign, Donald Trump consistently worked with the crypto audience, publicly supported digital assets, and used this topic to mobilize economically active supporters. This group played a significant role in his electoral support.

The LDPR uses a similar logic, adapting it to Russian conditions. This time, Leonid Slutsky proposed to conduct an amnesty for mining equipment imported into Russia in violation of customs rules. The idea is part of a package of measures for the legalization of mining and the digital currency market. It is also proposed to give miners up to one and a half years to adapt to the new regulations and establish joint work between the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance, and the industry on clear rules.

What in the end

The LDPR purposefully builds its work with the crypto community as a separate audience. The party views experts and enthusiasts of digital currency as a source of electoral expansion and consistently uses the crypto theme to directly address this group, occupying a niche that other parliamentary parties have not yet filled.
