About Band Protocol (BAND)
Band (BAND) is a decentralized data protocol that delivers secure, real-time information for blockchain applications and artificial intelligence systems. It functions as a unified data layer, supporting decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, prediction markets, and large language models (LLMs). By providing reliable external data, Band enables smart contracts and AI-driven applications to operate with accurate, verifiable inputs.
In 2025, the project rebranded from Band Protocol to Band, introducing a new vision as “The Unified Data Layer for AI & Web3.” This rebrand brought two major products: Band v3, which expanded data coverage, reduced latency, and added advanced developer tools, and Membit, a solution designed to deliver real-time, verifiable context to large language models (LLMs). The rebrand positioned Band as a bridge between blockchain infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
Band was originally launched in 2019 on the Ethereum blockchain to address a core Web3 challenge: connecting blockchains with real-world data. In 2020, it migrated to the Cosmos ecosystem to overcome Ethereum’s scalability limits and take advantage of the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol. This allowed Band to process scalable, cross-chain data transfers, establishing it as one of the first oracle networks with multi-chain functionality.
The network operates using Tendermint, a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm with Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT). This ensures that operations remain secure and functional even if some validator nodes fail.
The ecosystem is powered by the BAND token. It is used to pay network fees, participate in governance, and secure the system through validator staking. Holders can delegate tokens to validators to earn rewards from fees and newly minted tokens. In Band v3, the token also plays a role in the Signaling Hub Module, which governs token listings and the update frequency of price feeds in the Concurrent Price Stream.
Band was founded in 2017 by Soravis Srinawakoon (CEO), Sorawit Suriyakarn (CTO), and Paul Nattapatsiri (CPO).
The circulating supply of BAND is around 164.82 million tokens, with no fixed maximum supply. BAND is listed on Binance for trade and purchase. The current price of BAND is available and updated in real-time on Binance.
