🚨 New "Double-Clone" Scam: How $100,000+ Was Stolen Inside a Real OTC Office Crypto scammers have reached a new level of sophistication. A recent victim lost 10 million rubles (~$110,000) in a scheme that combines fake Telegram accounts with real-life visits to legitimate OTC (Over-the-Counter) desks. How the "Man-in-the-Middle" Scheme Works: The Hook: You find an exchange service on Telegram and agree to a cash-to-crypto deal at their physical office for safety. The Clone: While you are on your way, the scammer creates a perfect replica of your Telegram profile (same photo, name, and bio) and contacts the real exchange staff, pretending to be you.The Switch: In the office, everyone thinks they are talking to each other. However, due to the scammer's manipulation, you send your wallet address to the scammer, and the scammer sends their own address to the staff. The Illusion: The scammer acts as a bridge. When the staff sends a "test" 10 USDT, it goes to the scammer, who instantly forwards it to you. You see the deposit, trust the process, and hand over the bulk cash. The Heist: The staff sends the remaining large sum to the address provided by the "clone" (the scammer). By the time the mistake is realized, the funds are laundered and gone. Why is it so dangerous? The use of a legitimate office creates a false sense of security. You feel safe because you are physically there, but your digital communication is being hijacked. How to Stay Safe: Verify Usernames: Double-check Telegram @usernames character by character. Scammers often swap "l" for "I" or "0" for "O".Live Verification: While in the office, ask the staff to send a voice note or show you their screen to ensure you are both in the same chat folder.Use QR Codes Only: Never copy-paste addresses from messengers. Show your wallet QR code directly from your device for the staff to scan on the spot. Stay vigilant! Title: Safeguard Your Digital Assets: Essential Tips for Crypto & Dollar Security 🛡️ In the world of decentralized finance, you are your own bank. While this offers incredible freedom, it also comes with the responsibility of securing your funds from hackers and scammers. Whether you are holding Bitcoin or stablecoins like USDT, security should be your #1 priority. Here are the gold standards for keeping your crypto and digital dollars safe: 1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Never rely solely on a password. Use hardware-based 2FA like YubiKey or app-based authenticators like Google Authenticator. Pro Tip: Avoid SMS-based 2FA, as it is vulnerable to "SIM swapping" attacks. 2. Use Cold Storage for Long-Term Holdings If you aren't trading your assets daily, don't keep them on an exchange. Move them to a Hardware Wallet (Cold Wallet) like Ledger or Trezor. These devices keep your private keys offline, making them immune to online hacks. 3. Protect Your Seed Phrase Your 12 or 24-word recovery phrase is the "master key" to your funds. Never store it digitally (emails, notes, or photos). Never share it with anyone—including people claiming to be "support staff." Write it down on paper or engrave it on metal and store it in a secure, fireproof location. 4. Beware of Phishing Links Always double-check the URL before logging into your exchange or wallet. Scammers create mirror websites that look exactly like Binance or MetaMask to steal your credentials. Bookmark your frequent sites and only use official apps. 5. Diversify Your Risk Don't keep all your "digital dollars" in one place. Spread your assets across a reputable exchange, a hot wallet (for daily use), and a cold wallet (for savings). Final Thought: The blockchain is immutable—once your funds are gone, they are usually gone for good. Invest in your security as much as you invest in your portfolio! 🚀 #CryptoSecurity #Binance #Web3 #SafetyFirst #USDT

Belarus 'Electrician' Sentenced to 13 Years in Prison for Extorting Bitcoins The court sentenced a resident of Grodno to 13 years in prison for robbery and attempted extortion of cryptocurrency, the Belarusian prosecutor's office reported. According to investigators, in 2024, he and an accomplice, posing as electricians, entered the apartment of a Minsk resident, tortured him with a stun gun and threatened to kill him, demanding that he transfer 5,750 BTC (more than 1 billion Belarusian rubles). The Minsk resident did not give in to the threats. Then the attackers tied him up and gave him 24 hours to comply with their demands. One of them was detained, the second managed to leave the country. This is not the first case of cryptocurrency extortion involving violence. Last week, teenagers were charged in the US with kidnapping a person and extorting $4 million. In early May, criminals kidnapped the father of a crypto millionaire in France and demanded a ransom of €7 million. In January, Ledger co-founder David Balland was kidnapped in Paris, also with a ransom demand. PLEASE BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHO YOU INFORM ABOUT YOUR ASSETS!!! #SafetyFirst #ProtectYourAssets
