In China, scientists have discovered an astonishing natural formation — a giant sinkhole about 200 meters deep, inside of which lies a true primeval forest.

At its bottom, ancient trees grow to heights of up to 40 meters — powerful, massive, and clearly having survived more than one era. However, it was not just them that surprised researchers. The entire surface of the bottom is covered with dense vegetation: the thick underbrush is so tall that it almost reaches human height.

Such a riot of greenery speaks to the existence of a secluded and unique ecosystem within the sinkhole, developing separately from the outside world. Scientists do not rule out that unknown species of plants and possibly animals may inhabit this area.
