Yesterday, I ordered a 4-night stay at the Parc55 standard room during the GDC in San Francisco on the Web3 travel platform NOMADZ in the Solana mobile dApp store, costing 1255.9u + a small amount of gas.
I received 7000 XP points and a few free minting opportunities for Nomadz's Suitcase NFTs. I still don't know what these suitcase NFTs are for, but I decided to mint them anyway with a little gas.
However, my hotel booking was not completed in the Namadz dApp on the Seeker phone. I kept facing payment failures when trying to place an order in the Seeker phone's Nomadz dApp. It's obvious that the Nomadz dApp's direct connection to the Seeker phone's built-in wallet hasn't been properly set up. The co-founder of Nomadz, @ivan_nomadz, heard that I couldn't make the payment and was helping me find a payment solution throughout the process. This also counts as helping them with an early user test, and I heard they would send me a reward of 1000 XP for testing.
In the end, I switched to the Phantom wallet. I logged into the Nomadz official website https://nomadz.xyz in the Phantom explorer and linked my Phantom wallet to complete the payment. However, I was also using the Seeker phone's built-in Seed Wallet for my Phantom wallet.
After placing the order, I checked the prices of partner hotels on the GDC exhibition website and found that they only cost 1219.4 USD there. I spent 35u more on Nomadz.
Considering some exchange rate differences and credit card fees, it might be about the same, so I won't worry about it.
This is my first time using a Web3 travel platform to book a hotel, and I hope to have a good check-in experience!
A few friends recommended that I use @travalacom on the Binance chain, saying that the hotel booking and check-in experience are quite good, with some people receiving hundreds of u in check-in rewards each month. I haven't heard much about this app before, so I'll give it a try next time.
