A man who won £2.4m (around $3.28M) on the national lottery built a multi million drug empire that involved manufacturing counterfeit tablets on an industrial scale.

The operation was run from his "quiet, rural" home with his son and over several years, the network distributed millions of fake tablets, generating an estimated turnover of €335 million (~$400M), according to a prosecutor.

At the height of his powers, he boasted that US tech billionaires Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos "best watch their backs".

John Eric Spiby, the 80-year-old, was sentenced to 16 years in prison after a investigation uncovered the operation.
